Wanted Movie Review

Posted by

Wanted is an entertaining thrill ride that is full of violence and mayhem, which is definitely not suitable for children, hence its R rating.  The movie is basically about a young man who is recruited into an assassination guild called the Fraternity to help them combat a lethal assassin who is taking out the Fraternity members one by one.  What separates this movie from others is that these assassins have the ability to boost their adrenaline, which gives them some cool abilities, which leads to some awesome special effects laden action scenes.  Needless to say the story although seemingly simple, is far from it.  The story takes you on a roller coaster ride of bullet curving action (literal, not metaphorical!) and story twists that leave you very satisfied in the end. I have heard people compare the action in this movie to the Matrix, but I actually compare it more to a little known movie called Equilibrium (starring Christian Bale and Taye Diggs), which was a movie about kung fu gunslingers, which is my name, not theirs lol! Yeah it sounds corny, but it was rather cool. Wanted follows Equilibrium’s same pattern of hyper realistic fighting and shooting, although the time periods are quite different.

If you are in the mood for a supped up gun fest, with people who have extraordinary, but not quite super powers, fighting it out, then check out Wanted, you won’t be disappointed. The only problem I had with the film was the main character’s annoying yelling, which to me was reminiscent of Shia Labeouf who played in Transformers and Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull.

Grade: A-

PS- If you are squeamish then you might want to reconsider seeing Wanted. There are a lot of bullets flying through heads in this one, plus some adult scenes.
