Transformers: The Last Knight

Posted by

When I first saw the trailer for Transformers: Last Knight, I could tell that it wasn’t going to be good. When I sat down and saw the first ten minutes of the movie, my hopes brightened a tad, and I thought to myself, maybe I was wrong. However, as the movie dragged on, I realized that I wasn’t wrong. Transformers: Last Knight is a bad movie, but hey it’s the Transformers, so I didn’t mind spending a few bucks to see it on the big screen.

The only phrase that came to my mind when I thought about this movie, was that it was an incoherent mess. Truly by far this is one of the worst if not the worst Transformers film made to date.  The story lines and editing was all over the place.  Despite the poor story-telling, and strange editing choices that would show a transformer stumbling around one moment, and then back into vehicle mode the next without showing any form of transition were just jarring. In one scene in a junk yard, they clearly show a yellow Autobot construction transformer transform during a battle, and then you never see him again! What happened?!  It is unfortunate that the movie is bad, because this time the acting was actually tolerable, unlike some previous films where it seemed all the actors did was scream his or her lines.  As with all the Transformers films, there is so much wasted potential and interesting story lines that they touch on but don’t explore because they are trying are not trying to be creative in the least. Their goal, which they do successfully, is to show a bunch of cool transforming, robot action sequences, and then build thin stories around them.  I give the filmmakers credit, they create visually entertaining movies showcasing robots in disguise, but I think the well has run dry on any semblance of a quality story. Don’t waste your money on this one!

Grade: D-

For fun I have ranked the various transformations films. Let me know if you agree or not.

  1. Transformers: The Movie (Animated Film) Still the best Transformers film ever!
  2. Transformers
  3. Transformers: Dark Moon
  4. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
  5. Transformers: Age of Extinction
  6. Transformers: The Last Knight

  1. I always feel like I need to see Transformers on the big screen, or I won’t see it at all. Same goes for the Fast and Furious franchise, though I like those movies A LOT better. I think we all kind of know what we’re getting with a Michael Bay movie, so I am never truly left disappointed. For me, the 1st and the 4th are my favorite (in comparison to the rest). Nice review!
